The most elegant artist to pursue environmental themes - she has the advantage of subsuming her message under the often spectacular progress of her paintings

Artist and author, Helen's work is concerned with the conservation of the natural world and deals with the connections between man, wildlife and habitat. Her use of artist's medium ranges between watercolour, gouache acrylics and oil, to mixed media photomontage. She likes to combine a strong colour palette with a dramatic sense of chiaroscuro.

Helen's inspiration usually comes from extensive travel in tropical America and Africa and India, and has been artist in residence on the great flood plains of the River Orinoco in Venezuela for many years.

She enjoys collaboration with designers, video artists and musicians as well as zoologists and ethnobotanists. Helen's art has been used internationally in mixed media stage shows and light installations, including a 40 piece TV wall for ballet at the Royal Opera House 'Carnival of the birds'. Cowcher trained at Chelsea School of Art. She has won many awards in USA and has work in international collections in UK, USA and South America.
