Familiar can be transformed into something rather unexpected
Playfully challenging the rules of perspective, Hartwig Braun creates something striking, adventurous and unique - capturing the essence of the city - out of the familiar urban cityscape. While still maintaining a high level of realistic accuracy, the ethos behind his hand-drawn work is all about discovering a new perspective on the urban.
After growing up in Karlsruhe, Germany, and graduating from Technische University in 1997, Hartwig has lived all over Europe until finally settling in London. His passion for illustration, architecture, the urban landscape and travel is reflected throughout his work, with many commissions taking him worldwide. Recognition of the artist's work has also been given by the Association of Illustrators over two consecutive years, and soon a series of greeting card illustrations will be released for Woodmansterne Publications. Hartwig's 'Celebrating the Urban' collection launched in February 2011 which includes new images featuring Rome Colosseum, Venice and Wembley Stadium.
