I have two passions in life - art and horses and most other animals... and always have since I can remember
Claire McVinne is passionate about observing animals and their habitat/situations, documenting their expressions, characters and their interactions with one another. Other sources of inspiration are her own surroundings and the places visited which she documents to share with others and make memories. To create this, Claire specialises in screen printing and photo etching, which are different methods that provide many options for one idea. She also creates her own images through many ways including drawing, mono printing and photography, and enjoys joining old traditional methods of printmaking with more modern techniques of image creation in her endeavor to amuse herself and others
Claire is from North Fife, who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art 15 Years ago with a B des (HONS) Illustration & Printmaking. Since then she has worked with many mediums from metal, clay and recycled materials to photography and film. This led Claire back to printmaking, and by working at Dundee Contemporary Arts Print Studio she was able to continue creating her own artwork. Due to the constant changing and improvement in printmaking techniques, Claire finds her teaching role as an opportunity to continue learning and way to share these with others who may also have new approaches to offer.
