Ailsa Lochhead






Interested in construction, categories and modes of display her work draws from theories within material and visual culture regarding inherent subjective agency




Lochhead is a visual artist living and working in Edinburgh. Having previously completed her BA in Sculpture & Environmental Art, at Glasgow School of Art, she recently gained MFA at Edinburgh College of Art. Lochhead's practice includes sculpture, installation, performance, sound, writing, film and printmaking which combine both appropriated and fabricated materials.

As the recipient of ESW's Creative Initiative Residency, Lochhead will work collaboratively with artist and writer Laura Edbrook, over the next six months to engage in research and production focused on material representations and staging's of script and narrative. Lochhead's recent exhibitions and projects in 2011 includes Shift/Work at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Recrea(c)tion at Art's Complex and Square Dance at the Festival Square BBC Screen.
