Contrasting the strength of the crocodile with the fragility of the butterfly - yet it is the powerful animal which is threatened
Clare's principal medium is lithography. This technique uses limestone to make a unique, richly textured mark, where the shaping of the figures on the stone is almost like sculpting in 2D. This method allows Clare to create the large, monumental, tonal forms. She also works with oil paints and Chinese ink.
Clare has been working as a professional artist for over twenty years, with initial training at Goldsmiths College in London, although much of her printmaking skills developed at Oxford Printmakers Cooperative in Oxford. She has exhibited quite widely over the years, through galleries around the country and showing work at art fairs. UK wide exhibitions have shown her work, including the Contemporary Print Show at the Barbican, The National Print Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, The Wiseman Gallery, Oxford and The Cupola Gallery, Sheffield. She has also gone abroad with A Woman's Touch exhibition in Singapore.
