Collective memories of things seen, experienced - or imagined
James Cosgrove, lives and works in north Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland and his work is often concerned with people and remote places. He regularly gathers written and graphic observations in notebooks, as well as posting home text and images on 'painted postcards' usually completed on location. Therefore his pictures are seldom made with precise topographical description.
James's works are often made in series, and his work is regularly displayed in national exhibitions such as the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute and the Paisley Art Institute, as well as a number of private galleries. James is also a member of the board of directors at House for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park Glasgow, and a director of House for an Art Lover.
