Beauty and stillness
Edinburgh-based artist Roland Corbin graduated with a 1st class Honours from Edinburgh College of Art with further study at the New York Academy of Art. His morbid fascination with the beauty and stillness of dead animals was central to his earlier work.
His recent paintings are often representational with large areas of abstract space and colour, decontextualising the subject matter. Expression, colour and subject matter are of ever increasing importance within his more recent body of work.
