Minister Leo Varadkar launches Jungle City Clonakilty

The Clock is ticking and soon the Jungle animals will be brightening up Clonakilty!

To mark the launch of Jungle City the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Transport, Leo Varadkar visited Clonakilty on Friday 29th June. The minister was invited to unveil one of the Jungle City elephant sculptures that was hand painted by the children of Clonakilty. Minister Varadkar praised Clonakilty for their innovative concept:

"This is a great idea to boost tourism in Clonakilty, and to encourage families to visit. The Jungle City initiative is fun, it's free and it's colourful. People are always looking for new ways to help the economy and boost tourism, and this is a truly innovative approach. I hope that Jungle City gets people talking about Clonakilty, and better still, persuades them to visit and find out more." The event was held in Spillers Lane which is set to become a Jungle City hotspot. It will be home to a mother elephant and her baby as well as a magnificent tiger. During his visit, the minister unveiled the children's elephant which was inspired by the values of Sustainable Clonakilty and included paintings of wind turbines, solar panels and bicycles! It is aptly called 'The Children's Green Dream'.
